Terry Murray Biography

Terry Murray is a retired NHL player and former coach of the Los Angeles Kings. Murray played ;12 years in the NHL, playing for the California Golden Seals, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Detroit ;Red Wings, and the Washington Capitals. After his retirement as a player in 1982, Murray was ;hired by the Washington Capitals as an assistant coach under his brother Bryan, who was ;serving as the head coach. Murray was promoted to the head coaching position in 1990, ;guiding the Capitals to multiple playoff appearances in his four year tenure. After being fired ;mid-season in 1994, Murray was hired as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1994, leading ;the Flyers to success over his three seasons until being fired in 1997. Murray would go on to ;take over the Florida Panthers in 1998, and was relieved of his duties in 2000. Eight years after ;being fired from the Panthers, Murray became head coach of the ;Los Angeles Kings in 2008, ;winning multiple games and playoff series but still no championships. Murray was fired in 2011, ;as the Kings would go on to win the Stanley Cup one year later. Murray currently lives with his ;wife and two daughters in Lehigh Valley, where he coaches the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia ;Flyers. ;
