Sheldon Kennedy spent parts of eight seasons in the NHL. ;The Detroit Red Wings originally selected Kennedy in the fourth round of the 1988 NHL Draft. ;He went on to play in 310 games and notch 107 points. ;Kennedy also went to four straight postseasons with the Red Wings and Calgary Flames, appearing in 26 playoff games and scoring ten points. ;He had a banner junior career, helping the Swift Current Broncos to the Western Hockey League's 1989 Memorial Cup. ;Kennedy played for Canada at the World Junior Championships in 1988 and 1989, assisting his country to gold medal victory in 1988. ;Perhaps his most important endeavor however has been his fight to raise awareness for victims of sexual abuse. ;Kennedy went public to share his story of abuse that came at the hands of a former coach. ;In 1998, he roller bladed across Canada to raise money for sexual abuse victims. ;In retirement, Kennedy helps operate Respect Group Inc, an organization that gives people tools to prevent bullying, harassment, and abuse. ;He released his autobiography, Why I Didn't Say Anything - The Sheldon Kennedy Story in 2006 and a documentary about his life called Swift Current came out in 2015. ;For all of his great work, Kennedy has received countless awards and he was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2014. ;
