Pat LaFontaine is a former NHL center, playing for three teams over his 16 year career. LaFontaine began ;his career in the ;Canadian Hockey League, playing two seasons and winning an MVP award and rookie of ;the year award. In 1983, LaFontaine was drafted third overall by the New York Islanders. The Islanders ;would experience great success during LaFontaine's tenure, making the playoffs every year until 1988. In ;1991, LaFontaine was traded to another New York team, the Buffalo Sabres. In his first season as a ;Sabre, LaFontaine would have his personal best season, scoring 148 points in 84 games. His next few ;years in Buffalo would be riddled by injuries, but would still help them to multiple playoff berths. ;LaFontaine would be traded to the New York Rangers in 1997, making him one of only five players to ;skate for all three New York Based NHL Teams. The 1997-1998 season would be his last retiring after a ;full season. After his retirement, LaFontaine was inducted into multiple hall of fames, most importantly ;the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003. LaFontaine will certainly go down as one of the greatest and most ;loved sports figures in New York history. ;
