Mike Yeo Biography

Mike Yeo is a coach in the National Hockey League for the Minnesota Wild. Mike began his career in coaching when he spent five seasons as the head coach for the Houston Aeros who were a part of the International Hockey League. In that span of time Yeo improved the team and under his leadership, they won the Turner Cup Championship in the 1998-99 season. He eventually made the transition to coaching in the NHL starting out as an assistant with the Pittsburgh Penguins where he went on to serve 11 years with the team and laid the groundwork along with the head coach in rebuilding the Penguins for future successes which culminated with a playoff berth and a Stanley Cup victory in 2009. In 2011 Mike got his first opportunity to be a head coach in the NHL with Minnesota. He quickly proved his ability when he led the team to a 15-7-3 record to start the season. Since then the team has continued to improve and Mike has led the Wild to two straight playoff appearances.
