Mike Richards Biography

Mike Richards has played in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers since 2005. Richards grew up in Kenora, Ontario and was drafted fourth overall in the 2001 OHL Priority Selection by the Kitchener Rangers. He went on to play four seasons in the OHL with the Kitchener Rangers and led them to a 2003 Canadian Hockey League Championship. After that season he was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with the 24th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Thus far in his NHL career he has scored 174 goals to go along with 292 assists for a total of 466 points in 657 career games. He played his first six seasons in the NHL with the Flyers before joining the Kings in 2011. During his first three seasons in Los Angeles he has helped lead his team to two Stanley Cup titles in 2012 and 2014. On the international circuit he has represented his home country of Canada multiple times, and helped lead them to a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. ;
