Mike Modano Biography


Mike Modano played 22 seasons in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings from 1989 to 2011 and scored 561 career goals to go along with 813 assists for a total of 1,374 career points in 1,499 games. His 561 goals and 1,374 points are the most all-time by an American born player, and he also holds the American record for playoff goals and games played. During his career he also represented the United States on the U.S. National Hockey Team and helped the stars and stripes to a silver medal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. He also helped the USA to a Gold Medal at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and a silver medal at the 1991 World Cup of Hockey. Modano retired in 2011 with eight All-Star selections and a Stanley Cup title, which he earned while playing with the Dallas Stars in 1999. The Dallas Stars retired his legendary No. 9 jersey in 2014 prior to his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. ;
