Kevin Weekes grew up in Scarborough, Ontario and played 14 seasons in the NHL from 1995 to 2009. After being selected with the 41st overall in the 1993 NHL Draft by the Florida Panthers he became one of the top goaltenders in the league. During his career he played for the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers and won 98 games while playing over 18,000 minutes and saving 871 shots in 348 games. After his retirement in 2009 he made his way to the broadcasting booth and made history as the first black analyst in hockey. Currently he serves as a color commentator on the NHL Network and analyst on Hockey Night in America. In 2011 he was named one of the 100 most powerful people in hockey, and is considered one of the Top 40 under 40 in the sports broadcasting world. ;
