Kevin Shattenkirk is a defenseman and an alternate captain for the St. Louis Blues. He is a top American player in the NHL today who came up through the U.S. National Team Development Program. The Colorado Avalanche originally selected Shattenkirk in the first round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play three seasons at Boston University. As a sophomore, he was a second-team All-American and helped BU win the NCAA title. The following year, Shattenkirk made his NHL debut with the Avalanche. He was traded to the Blues midway through his rookie season. Shattenkirk has gone on to be a productive player in St. Louis and was named to the 2015 NHL All-Star Game. He has represented Team USA at the 2011 World Championships and 2014 Olympics. ;
