Joe Sakic Biography

Joe Sakic played 21 seasons in the NHL for the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalance after being selected with the 15th overall pick in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. During his career he was one of the top goal scorers in the league, scoring 625 goals and adding 1,016 assists for a total of 1,641 points in 1,378 games. His numerous decorations include being named to 13 NHL All-Star Games, winning the Hart Memorial Trophy in 2001 and helping the Colorado Avalanche to Stanley Cup victories in 1996 and 2001. During his career he also played for the Canadian National Team and led them to a Gold Medal in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic games. While playing for Team Canada he also helped his home country to a gold and silver at the World Championships and World Cup.
