Gilbert Perreault Biography

Gilbert Perreault's skills on the ice have made him one of the most highly regarded hockey centers of all-time. Prior to the Buffalo Sabres inaugural season in 1970 they selected Perreault with their first ever No. 1 overall pick. He'd go on to spend his entire 17-year career in Buffalo and become the Sabres all-time leader in career regular season games played, goals, points, shots on goal, assists and game-winning goals. An eight-time All-Star and winner of the 1971 Calder Memorial Trophy, he finished his career with 512 goals, 814 assists, and 1,326 points in 1,191 career games, earning him a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990. Perreault's number 11 jersey is the first to ever be retired by the Sabres franchise, and he is the only player in their history to wear No. 11. Since his retirement he has remained close to the game of hockey, serving as a coach for several junior teams and also playing on occasion for the Buffalo Sabres Alumni Hockey Team at charity events. He's also become a successful real estate investor and enjoys spending time with his family.
