Gary Leeman Biography

Gary Leeman is a former professional right wing/ defense in the NHL. Leeman attended Notre Dame College where he played hockey. Leeman was a standout defenseman with the WHL's Regina Pats for two seasons and he was voted the league's Top Defenseman and First-team All-Star. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Leeman as the 24th overall pick in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. While with Toronto, Leeman switched from defenseman to a ringer. Leeman was a top scorer in Toronto during the 1986-87 season. He had four straight seasons with 20 goals. Leeman spent 9 seasons with the Maple Leafs before he went to the Calgary Flames. Leeman has also played with the Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks and the St. Louis Blues. He left the league playing in 667 regular season games, 199 goals, 267 assists and 466 points. Leeman won his first and only Stanley Cup in 1993 with the Montreal Canadiens. Leeman retired from hockey in 1999. ;
