Felix Potvin Biography

Felix Potvin is a former National Hockey League goaltender. In 1990, the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Potvin in the second round as the 31st overall pick. During the 1991-92 season, Potvin played for the St. John's Maple Leafs where he was awarded the Dudley €œRed€ Garrett Memorial Award and the Baz Bastien Memorial Trophy. While playing in the minors, Potvin was called up to the NHL for four games. It was not until the 1992-93 season that Potvin became a regular in the majors. That season he played 48 games and was named the Maple Leafs #1 goaltender; he also helped the team make it to the Stanley Cup Conference Finals. The following year, Potvin was voted to his first NHL All-Star game. During the 1995-96 season, Potvin was again voted to the NHL All-Star game. Potvin was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 1997 where he struggled and in the 2000-01 season he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. He helped the Kings get to the playoffs in 2002. In 2003, Potvin signed a one-year contract with the Boston Bruins and that would be the last season he played.
