Doug Gilmour Biography

Doug Gilmour is a retired NHL centre who played 20 seasons in the league with eight different teams. Originally from Canada, Gilmour played in various junior leagues, including the QMJHL and the OHL. In the 1982 NHL Draft, the St. Louis Blues selected Gilmour in the seventh round, and he would make his NHL debut one year later in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. In five seasons with the Blues, Gilmour became an offensive force, eventually leaving the team in 1988 to join the Calgary Flames. That same season, Gilmour helped the Flames win the Stanley Cup, his first and only championship. Four seasons later Gilmour joined the Toronto Maple Leafs, earning his two All Star honors in 1993 and 1994. Gilmour would go on to play with various NHL teams until his retirement in 2003, ending his 20 year career with 1414 points in 1474 games.
