Don Sweeney Biography

Don Sweeney has spent most of his adult life as a member of the Boston Bruins organization. He has been the team's general manager since 2015. Sweeney previously spent 15 of his previous 16 pro seasons with the Bruins. He also played college hockey in Boston at Harvard University. During his second season in the NHL, the Bruins reached the Stanley Cup Final. Sweeney became just one of four players to play over 1,000 games in a Boston uniform. He played one final season with the Dallas Stars before retiring in 2004. Sweeney joined the franchise's front office in 2006. Along the way, he held the positions of director of player development, director of hockey operations and assistant general manager. ;
