Garth Snow Biography
Garth Snow is the general manager of the New York Islanders. He was officially named to the post after retiring from the NHL as a player in 2006. During his first year on the job, he was named Executive of the Year by Sports Illustrated. The Islanders experienced their first playoff series win since 1993 in 2016. Snow spent the final four seasons of his 12-year career playing for the Islanders. During his time in the league, he was considered one of the best American goalies. Snow was in net for the United States during the 1994 Olympics and also participated in the 1998 World Championships. The Quebec Nordiques originally selected him in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. Snow went on to play four seasons at the University of Maine, where he led the NCAA in wins for three straight years. The Black Bears won the NCAA Championship in 1993 and he was named to the All-Tournament team. Snow debuted for the Nordiques in 1993 and played two seasons in Quebec before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. He was a spot starter in net for a Flyers team that went to the 1997 Stanley Cup Final. Snow also spent time with the Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins. ;
