Alain Vigneault Biography

Alain Vigneault is a successful NHL head coach who most recently coached the New York Rangers.  In 2014, Vigneault took the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 20 years.  Prior to his time in New York, he was the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks for seven seasons.  The Canucks went to the playoffs six times under his watch, including a Stanley Cup Final trip in 2011.  Vigneault is Vancouver's all-time wins leader.  His season with the Canucks AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose helped him get his second NHL Job.  Vigneault's first head coaching gig was with the Montreal Canadiens.  Outside of a period of time where Vigneault was an assistant with the Ottawa Senators, most of his coaching experience came at the junior level.  He had a limited playing career, seeing action in 42 games over two seasons for the St. Louis Blues.  Vigneault also spent six seasons as a defenceman in the minor leagues.
